Historic Bed & Breakfast

This house dates back to 1690 and required extensive restoration and renovation in order to expand it into a bed and breakfast inn. Baud completed the renovations within eight months including new heating, electrical, plumbing, air conditioning and a sprinkler system.

New siding, doors, gutters and in particular a fabulous commercial-style kitchen completed the image. Keeping this home's historic character was the challenge during renovations

In order for the sprinklers not to show, Baud had to take off the original paneling, install the pipes in the wall, replace the paneling without damage, and camouflage the sprinkler heads with a wall design.

All new siding of red cedar shingles were used on side walls, windows were restored to their original state and design, and the trim around the front door was restored with a new door custom-made in Baud's millwork shop to match the old door. New copper gutters and downspouts were also installed.

Baud handled unforeseen structural problems (such as an outside wall leaning out upstairs that had to be pulled back in) with care and great respect for both the historic nature of the building and the client's wishes.
